Desserts

Even the world class chefs have to start somewhere. It all begins with the recipe. Here are some of the basic tips to cook with a recipe and go beyond it.

Make sure you have enough time to make a dish. You have to choose a dish which is appropriate for the time you have. Beginners should choose recipes that have less ingredients and less complex procedure to follow.

Read the recipe from the beginning to the end before you start. Make sure that you have the right ingredients, dishes, appliances and if the recipe has some special requirement.

Assemble all the ingredients at one place before you start. It's recommended to measure all the ingredients and bring them to the form, the recipe requires. For example if the recipe requires 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped. You should chop the garlic in advance.

Pull out all the utensils, measuring cups, spoons and spatulas you would be using and keep them handy. This will help you save time to run all over the kitchen.

Start creating your own recipes for success and always keep a record of them in a folder.

An apron and kitchen towels will help your clothes from getting dirty.
Always wash your hands before any kind of preparation. You must wash your hands during the cooking process whenever you handle raw meats, poultry, fish and egg products.

Always carefully observe the cooking process, this helps to understand the temperature factor in cooking.

Beginners luck does help, but try making one dish at a time in the beginning.

Once you get the hang of reading recipes and mastering some meals, you can get creative in your kitchen and start developing your own recipes.

Try experimenting with different seasonal ingredients and learn to use different herbs and spices for exotic flavors.

Trying recipes from different cultures other than your own, helps in understanding more techniques and tricks.

Make sure that you understand the instructions.

Always remember that a delicious and inspiring meal comes from a creative and adventurous mind.
